Nitrous Oxide or Laughing Gas

Our pediatric dentists and staff are trained and dedicated to gaining your child’s confidence and providing a comfortable and relaxed visit. Sometimes our little patients demonstrate some anxiety and fear that require more than coaching through the dental appointment. In these situations, our doctors and staff will discuss with you the option of Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) Sedation to provide a comfortable experience for your child during their dental procedure. Nitrous Oxide is a combination of two different gases–oxygen and nitrous oxide. We administer the gas through a small mask placed over your child’s nose. The effects of nitrous oxide are very mild and safe, and you can typically observe your child feeling calmer and more relaxed. These effects are reversed very quickly and your child can resume normal activity right after the appointment.
